So... Spike Lee was making an speaking appearance on campus tonight over at Loeb Playhouse (2nd largest auditorium on campus... holds roughly 1100 people). I made it to the Stewart Center lobby around 6:45, and stood in line for a while, as the doors were shut. From what I could tell from people around me, they had to count to see how many people were already inside the hall at the time. Fine, I thought. Meanwhile, someone made the announcement behind me that Fowler Hall was open for overflow seating. I decided that I should continue to stay there in line, though, just because I didn't know how many spots they had potentially open. A few minutes later, they opened the doors up and let in some people slowly. I eventually made it up to within 20 feet of the door when they shut it again. Waited there for a bit more, then we were told that they were now full in Loeb.
Ok... so I walked across the lobby over to where Fowler is. As I reached the opening, I heard an announcement: Fowler Hall was full and that overflow would now be handled over at the Union. Fine again... so I walked over to the union and found a nice spot by the large TV on the first floor.
So they turned the channel to BTV 2 (the one that was covering it)... and we sat there. And sat there. And twiddled our thumbs. And sat there some more.
About 7:25, a guy finally came over and made the announcement that they were having some technical difficulties and that people in Fowler were viewing it and people in the dorms were viewing it, but that none of the TVs in the Union were able to show it at that time. It would be fixed in a while.
Bah. Everyone just decided to leave. And thus I got to see... 10 minutes of his talk from home....
Good job guys. Good job.

As we parted, she commented "Well what do you expect from Purdue Engineering Technology?" (or something like that...).
All in all... quite interesting.
